THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST NICHOLAS, HEDSOR |
Even a small church such as St Nicholas Hedsor incurs significant running costs. Our weekly running costs work out at £160 and on top of this we are required to support the Diocese through the Parish Share at an additional cost of £260 per week, therefore our weekly outgoings are £420. Our weekly income averages £180, which includes the plate collection at services, current Gift Aid donations and tax recovered annually. There is a clear and large discrepancy between income and expenditure. Charles Dicken's Mr Micawber succinctly explained this as: Income £1, Expenditure 95p = happiness. Income £1, expenditure 105p = unhappiness. Currently the church accounts fall well into the 'unhappy' category. Last year we again had to dig deep into our reserves to balance the books and present indications are that we shall have to do the same this year. On the following page are some suggestions to increase the amount of money we receive to allow us to continue to meet all our financial responsibilities and keep the church open for future generations to enjoy. |
